Headmaster's Welcome
Newton Prep’s website aims to be an ever-changing window on to life in this busy and successful London day school. You may be visiting the website for a number of different reasons. You may be a prospective parent keen to find out about a school which makes excellent provision for bright, as well as gifted and talented, children. You may be a present parent searching for information about a curriculum question, or a pupil searching for information about homework. You may be a job applicant keen to find out more about working in the independent sector.
Whatever your reason for visiting our website, you are most welcome! I hope you will re-visit the website frequently in order to keep up with news and developments at Newton. But however technologically advanced is the virtual reality of Newton’s website, nothing can beat visiting the school during the working day in order to gain a clear sense of our unique character. The website can convey something of the industrious buzz that characterises classrooms at Newton and the happy noise that emanates from the playground but not the entire picture, so do come and visit us in person to see and hear for yourself.
Nicholas M Allen
Headmaster
Parking, Dropping Off and Collection Arrangements for the Second Half of Term.
Please read the guidance below carefully and make sure that all members of your family know what is happening.
In outline, pupils, staff and parents will gain access to the school from Pagden Street, the drive-through which links Lockington Road and the Trading Estate to the rear of the school buildings. The front playground will be closed to cars at all times. Pedestrian access via the single gate on Battersea Park Road will only operate during the middle of the working day. Senior staff will be on hand in the morning and afternoon until the new system beds in.
Drop Off
Pagden Street will be open from 08.00 - 09.00.
Car drivers are encouraged to park in the trading estate accessed via Havelock Terrace (turn right at the Prince of Wales lights just beyond on the school gate).
Early arrivals will wait on the all weather pitch instead of the front playground. 08.00 - 08.25
School will open at 08.25 as normal.
Parents driving through and dropping off, should do so by travelling East to West along Pagden Street via Havelock Terrace.
Parking for parents is being provided in the present staff car park adjacent to the all weather pitch.
Access to the parent parking area will be gained from Pagden Street. The exit of the parent car park will be at the bottom of Lockington Road.
I suggest that these parking spaces should go to families with small children. Please do not use these spaces for lengthy periods.
Cyclists should access Pagden Street from the Trading Estate end and park their cycles in the usual place.
Pedestrians should walk down Lockington Road and enter the school via the greeter gate next to the adventure playground.
Using Pagden Street in this way will create a one-way system from Havelock Terrace through the Trading Estate to Pagden Street and Lockington Road. Please avoid turning into Lockington Road from Battersea Park Road against the flow of most of the traffic.
Collection
Pagden Street will be open from 15.05 - 18.00
Car drivers are encouraged to park in the trading estate.
Lower School children will be collected from classrooms as usual.
Upper School children will be collected from the Millennium Hall.
Parents parking in the school parking area should follow the guidance above.
Cyclists should exit the school by going along Pagden Street towards Lockington Road.
Pedestrians should exit the school via the greeter gate next to the adventure playground and walk up Lockington Road.
